White Satsuma yaki mini plate - handmade gold and glass enamel

A unique miniature plate in Satsuma-yaki style. It's hand made and hand painted with gold and glass enamel, by a family of artisans from Kagoshima.
Traditionally, white Satsuma pottery was made only for the ruling class, making it an exclusive and luxurious item.

These small plates are decorated with kingfishers flying over seasonal foliage - one plate depicts wisteria flowers, while the other shows yellow and orange momiji leaves. The edges are finished with gold. The background is in eggshell white. The cracking glaze shows unique hairline pattern.

These plates can also be used as a decoration, or as a place to keep your favorite accessories.

The plates are unused. There is the name of the studio written on the bottom.
