“THIS DISPLAY CASE CONTAINS AN AUTHENTIC BULLET FIRED FROM A .30 CALIBER MACHINE GUN WHICH WAS MOUNTED ON THE BATTLESHIPS STATIONED IN PEARL HARBOR ON DECEMBER 7, 1941.

THIS BULLET WAS RECOVERED FROM A DEPTH OF APPROXIMATELY 110 FEET ON THE OCEAN FLOOR IN 1998. RELIVE THE TRAGIC MOMENT WHEN A BRAVE YOUNG SERVICEMAN LOADED THE BULLET INTO HIS MACHINE GUN DURING THE HEAT OF BATTLE AND MADE A VALIANT STAND AGAINST THE OVERWHELMING AND UNRELENTING ATTACK OF THE JAPANESE FORCES. WE HAVE PAINSTAKINGLY RECONSTRUCTED THE BATTLE OF PEARL HARBOR TO FIND THE TRAJECTORY OF THE BULLETS USED BY THE DEFENDING FORCES AND CONDUCTED OVER TEN THOUSAND DIVES DURING A FIFTEEN YEAR PERIOD TO DETERMINE THEIR EXACT LOCATION.
